Performance Testing + Athlete Profiling

Caringbah, Sutherland Shire

At Shire Spine & Sport, performance testing is the foundation of everything we do. Using industry-leading VALD performance systems, we provide objective, repeatable testing to assess strength, power, asymmetry, movement capacity and injury risk – then translate that data into clear, practical recommendations for you and your coach. Whilst this is a normal part of our ongoing allied health and training protocols, it is also available as a stand-alone service which you can use to guide your training and return to sport decisions.

Why does performance testing matter?

Training or rehabbing without testing is guessing.

Testing allows us to:

  • Identify physical strengths and weaknesses

  • Detect asymmetries and injury risk factors

  • Establish baselines

  • Track progress objectively over time

  • Guide smart programming decisions

  • Guide appropriate Return To Play decisions

Whether you’re an elite athlete or someone who just wants to know when they can go back to walking their dog again, testing removes opinion and replaces it with data to help guide the best course of action for you.

VALD Performance Systems

We use VALD Performance technology, trusted by professional sporting organisations, high performance programs and elite athletes worldwide.
In clinic we utilise both the Forcedecks (force plates for lower body power and movement profiling) and Dynamo (a dynamometer that can be applied to any muscle or movement in the body).

All testing is conducted and interpreted by experienced clinicians and performance staff – not automated reports with no context.

Sport specific testing

At Shire Spine & Sport we can tailor the testing to the exact demands of your sport. We regularly test athletes from:

  • Rugby League

  • Rugby Union

  • AFL

  • Soccer/Football

  • Netball

  • Golf

  • Swimming

  • Tennis

  • Weightlifting

  • Crossfit/Hyrox

  • Running/Marathons/Ultra

  • Basketball

  • Cricket

Your testing battery will reflect the physical demands of your sport, common injury patterns and the performance qualities that matter the most.

Stand alone testing

You don’t need to be a patient or client to get access to testing
We offer standalone testing sessions, ideal for:

  • Athletes wanting objective data

  • Teams/individuals who are in-season

  • Athletes returning from injury

  • Coaches wanting clearer information

  • Anyone wanting a professional performance snapshot.

  • Testing can be completed individually and all information shared with your coach or support team

Reporting and explanation

Following your session you will receive a detailed performance report that clearly explains your results and gives context to what matters and what doesn’t. We can then advise on practical next steps for you.

Data is only useful if explained.
